Germany May Have Castrated Gay Guys Decades After the Nazi Routine

Gruesome brand-new studies from historian Jens Kolata keeps revealed situations of this “voluntary emasculation” (i.e., castration) of gay people in West Germany through to the end of the 1960s. These castrations had been carried out in a prison healthcare facility in Baden-Wurttemberg, a German county about 140 miles south of Frankfurt.

Between 1945 and 1969, at least twelve people were castrated for homosexuality during the Hohenasperg police medical facility near Ludwigsburg (pic above). Recently, the paper Stuttgarter Zeitung reported on an “accidental discovery” by historian Jens Kolata who researches crimes during Germany’s national socialist stage (aka the Nazi-era) in the Institute of Ethics and records into the college of Tubingen.

Until 1969, homosexuality in western Germany was actually completely punishable in notorious part 175, a 1871 legal passageway utilized by Nazis to send gays to The Second World War focus camps; homosexual prisoners used the green triangle, a symbol which later on turned into an icon for gay liberation.
